Explore Creative Stories at Oshkosh’s Lakefly Book Fair

I’ve never regretted buying a book by a local author.

I’ve attended a few book fairs over the years. They have all been connected with a writers conference. It was great to see the person behind the book and find out what inspired the story.

I think that holds true for the Lakefly Book Fair that will be held this May 3rd at the convention center. I will be selling my books, but I will also be buying books.

Buying or selling books, I enjoy meeting people and discussing reading.

Last year, I talked with Jane Dougherty. She wrote her memoir entitled Shadow in the Night https://a.co/d/5TxGyJx

Her book describes her early life In Oshkosh. More importantly, she described her adventures in which she chose a career and traveling at a time when that was not the convention for a woman. By telling her story she records the history of Oshkosh and America itself.

I also talked last year with Sally Cissna. Her books are called the Woodstock Tales https://a.co/d/83bKYEf. She took her family history and fictionalized what life was like in Southern Wisconsin and Northen Illinois during the 1910s and 1920s.

To me this is a creative way to preserve your family history and a fun way to tell it.

The book Fair will bring authors from all over Wisconsin. It is free and open to the public. If you are in Oshkosh, stop on down.

And also visit Caramel Crisp Corner –https://www.caramelcrispcorner.com/book-store. They have a section of local authors.
