We invite all with inquisitive minds to elevate your humanity by joining the Museum of Writing Instruments’ beginning poetry events and learning the basics from Oshkosh’s First & Finest Poet Laureate, Tom Cannon.

Explore the many benefits to incorporating poetry into your life. Through hands-on activities, participants will learn how to write poetry that can improve their lives and mental well-being. Led by Oshkosh Poet Laureate Tom Cannon.

Write Now! is a series of free, fun writing sessions designed to jump start your creative engine. No experience is necessary, all ages are welcome. Please bring writing supplies/devices.

A Better World Through Poetry Workshop

In celebration of National Poetry Month, Oshkosh Poet Laureate Tom Cannon will lead an interactive poetry workshop for kids in grades 6-9.
Explore how poetry can help you work through feelings and problems. It can be used to develop healthy practices such as gratitude and savoring the good times. Going beyond the first draft turns your words into a powerful tool to improve the world around you. 
Teens are encouraged to share their original work by submitting a Word document as an attachment to Paper submissions are also welcomed at any of the library’s service desks. Poems will be on display through May 15 in the teen and children’s areas of the library.
