The pilgrims were failures. Losers. They were not ready for life and died (like dogs!) of sickness and starvation. The Wampanoag people came in and showed them how to survive. 

They fed them. The repayment, of course, was to end their way of life and dominate them. Which is bookended by the way many people have hatred for immigrants that come to our country for safety and stability. 

So it seems to me that the only way we should be spending Thanksgiving is to be serving those that are lost and need to be fed.  Whether they deserve it or not.
