I avoid Facebook arguments nowadays. Yet when a high school classmate shared a post about how Renee Cook should not have been killed, I responded- “Police Officers have to shoot to kill if they are in danger of grave bodily harm. This murderer was not afraid. He was angry.

Here is an exchange with a MAGA classmate:

I wanted to respond with

No I shot them in the face!

I really just want credit for a good comeback. And maybe for not responding. There is no point in it. He would not have had a real conversation. Considered anyone else’s point.

I also wanted to point out that law says that you cannot shoot someone for that is just driving away. No one could judge that this person would go on to cause mayhem. He could have stepped out of the way and no one would have been hurt. Especially since her last words were: I am not mad at you.

I think its also reasonable to think that Cook saw so many videos of people pulled out of their cars and beaten, she was more concerned with the person trying to open her door than the guy in front of her. This is not a fact, but I believe that ICE has escalated everything and thus to blame.

ICE did not have jurisdiction for a traffic stop, They did not suspect she was undocumented, so they could not detain her.

Who is to blame? More than the murderer, Kristi Noem and Trump. Maybe mostly Stephen Miller. They will get off consequence free (even if impeached).

They could have closed the border. Spent a lot of money to do so. But the rest is fascism. Rounding up people to have someone to hate.

Because they could have spent all the money they are using to round up school children and migrant workers and hired law enforcement officials to round up criminals. Legal or illegal.

I wouldn’t necessarily agree with it, but I don’t think it would be evil to have a orderly, safe, legal step up in deportation. Make sure due process was followed. Set up a procedure that didn’t require masked men without guns and made sure agents were fully trained and mentally stable.
