The Flight or Fight of Love:

The Flight or Fight of Love: Follow Jason, a man who has spent his life running from commitment, as he falls for a woman entirely bound to her ailing father’s family business.

This is a summary of my story my anthology Parts of Me takes its name from.

So asked myself where did the story come from?

Thinking back, I wanted to write a spicy story with sex in it. And it has that. But like my characters, I kept returning back to the love they feel.

Penny is the woman Jason falls in love with. She runs her father’s auto parts store. And the second thing I wanted to write about was thick part store catalogs.

Nowadays, catalogs on computers. But what if I wrote about an old-fashioned parts store? I could write about my childhood. Going to a farm implement store and watching men finger through catalogs and then go back and get a part.

Which is odd for a spicy romance.

I think the third thing that prompted the story was seeing late night TV commercials where someone local has an ad and they are so wooden.

What if a guy was watching TV late at night. A commercial came on for a auto parts store, and he fell in love with the woman on it.

Discover the beautifully messy, profoundly authentic world of human connection in Parts of Me, a captivating contemporary short story collection by acclaimed author and Oshkosh Poet Laureate, Thomas Cannon.

In this tidy yet deeply resonant anthology, Cannon delves into the complex choices, quiet heartbreaks, and unexpected triumphs that define our everyday relationships. Across a diverse tapestry of lives, Parts of Me explores the intricate fragments of the human condition through real, flawed characters grappling with love, duty, and self-destruction
