Author Bio- Thomas Cannon

I was raised on a small dairy farm near Spencer, Wisconsin, where I first learned the value of honest, hard work. While the rhythm of the farm stayed with me, I eventually followed my passion for words to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, where I earned a degree in English.

Today, I’m proud to serve as the inaugural Poet Laureate of Oshkosh, a role I took on in August 2021. My writing spans from the deep, emotional landscapes of my novels, Shattered and The Tao of Apathy, to short stories and poems featured in journals like Midwestern Gothic and Corvus Review. I’m also honored to have been the lead contributor to Cup of Comfort for Parents of Children With Autism.
Community is at the heart of what I do. I help organize the Lakefly Writers Conference and co-host the Author Showcase on the Oshkosh Media Channel. I believe writing is a powerful tool for healing and connection, and I’m dedicated to helping other writers find their voices.
When I’m not at my desk or supporting local arts, I’m spending time with my wife, our three children, and our two grandchildren.

The author of The Tao of Apathy.  All of the crazy characters you have ever worked with in one book.  Please check it out on Amazon and review it.

No More Ugly Girls began as a way to honor that inner strength survivors have to keep moving while carrying their pain hidden away.

Our society tells abused girls they must hide their pain. Then it tells them secrets make them ugly.

It is only through sheer strength of character that they carry on with life.

Tom is also the cohost of Author Showcase on the local access channel in Oshkosh.  Their mission is to introduce you to your friendly neighborhood author and convince you to buy a local author’s book once in a while.  And review it.  It is so important to authors to get reviews.
