Poetry Keeps Track

This picture of a historic building (Morgan Doors) in Oshkosh made me think of poetry.

Poetry most likely comes on the cusp of change. Isn’t that when people become most acutely aware of the importance of something. A poem encapsulates what matters Perhaps memories of working in a factory that lasted for a century. So that when the walls are torn down, we can know it existed. We can remember important things.

I am drawn to take pictures like this that record the end of the life of a building. You can see the building’s life flash in the exposed remnants.

We need people to write down their histories. We need to read it like poetry.(especially if it is a poem). Read it like archelogy and contemplate the changes that happen whether we want it to or not.
