The republicans are spending a lot of money on tracking down illegal aliens. They want to come to court houses and schools and pretty much anywhere to find them. So much money is being sprayed around so that sick children and children are being deported.  Women in communities are being dragged away as neighbors protest.  We have men in masks disappearing people.

What if we beefed up the border, made sure no more bad people came into this country and also bolstered police forces. Put some of the ICE manpower and money into stopping all crime. And if a nonlegal alien is arrested (for more than a traffic violation) then deported.

What would the downside of this be?

You wouldn’t even have to try to thwart habeas corpus. Now would some illegal aliens still be here? Yes. But would it be a problem? No. Because a person not here legally but not hurting anyone is less problematic than accidentally deporting people that are here legally. 

So why these extreme actions? My answer is to fuel the hate and fear people have for people not like them.
