Now that I have to ask people to buy it, I ask myself why I chose that title.

The title popped into my head for several reasons. One of those is that it is attention-grabbing. Perhaps rage bating. Which I see now that making your reader angry at you is not the best publicity.

 But as God as my witness, I kept expecting my publisher to tell me to change it.

The proper title of my book should be no more ugly men. I say this because men are almost always the abusers, and I want to make it clear that the problem is not the people that see themselves as ugly.

We should change our culture and laws to prevent Ugly Men from causing trauma. Contributing the cycle.

But can we get rid of people that hurt? Not soon. There will always be abuse in this world.  So women not only are traumatized, they must also then be the ones to heal. The shame of abuse causes anyone to feel ugly on the outside and within. I believe that it is imperative for people to know they are not alone and it is not their fault. Regardless of what happens to people, they need to believe they are not ugly. If they believe it, then there will be no more ugly women.

And yes, perhaps the title should be no more ugly people. But our culture puts so much emphasis on women’s attractiveness. It was what I saw when I began writing the story and it is what moved me to write it.

So the name of the book still feels like it is what it has to be titled.

And I am grateful some people agree with me.

No More Ugly Girls immediately grabs attention with its bold, almost confrontational title, but the story beneath it is far more layered than that first impression suggests. Rather than leaning solely on shock value, the narrative explores themes of perception, self-worth, insecurity, and the powerful ways society conditions us to define beauty and identity. There’s an edge to the writing that keeps the pages turning, and the emotional tension between characters feels grounded and believable.
