Many people talk about patriotism. That we are the greatest nation. I agree. However, what is a nation, but its people. If we are truly patriotic, then we must expound resources for everyone. We must help those that are in bad situations. We only want to reward those that are doing well or those that pulled themselves up by their own bootstraps. But we must admit that is by luck. Not everyone has a personality, the intelligence, or the mental health to do so.

Our nation is not the working class or the middle class. It is also the people suffering, even if it is through their own poor choices. I believe that if we bring up those that don’t deserve it, each of the following generations will deserve it more and give up more to be proud of.

If we take pride in our nation (and we should), we should not rest until everyone is respected and safe  Otherwise our patriotism is just empty words.
