I have students freewrite in journals. I, of course, find it valuable as well. I am focused on wellness skills and here is how my free write came out:

Selfcare will melt stress away
Though it might not happen today
There is sadness in this world
Insults from every corner hurled
What you have is within you
The power to set your course true
Melt away your worries, quiet that inner voice
Choice to value yourself, its your only choice
Be honest, be kind, be bold
Your inner strength breaks any mold.
It’s the true you, not what you’ve been told.

Make a list, end with a twist
Take a breath, live before your death
Take a moment to be grateful,
Ignore thoughts that are hateful
Try yoga, do it in a toga
Every day you should meditate
Do it in the morning, don’t wait
#
When I am personally journaling, my thoughts often come out as poetry. And I think this helps to make things clear for myself. Journaling is a great source for poetry
