In our culture today, women are discussing the ways their lives are difficult. The things they struggle with. The inequalities of life. And men are feeling, we have difficulties too.
I think that is valid. However, too many men then feel persecuted. They fight against women’s valid points because they feel attacked. Blamed and they feel they do not deserve that. So they are angry and do things like listen to Joe Rogan and vote for Trump.
But when it comes down to it, women have more challenges. They do not have equal lives. So we do need to have discussions about men’s challenges. Honor their struggle.
But it does not need to be a one sided thing. Either or. Listen to people. Don’t get defensive. Focus on solving problems.
I wrote my novel No More Ugly Girls to honor the struggle of women. My previous novel Shattered was about a guy struggling with grief. I was going to say one story is not more important than the other. However, No More Ugly Girls is about trauma and abuse. So it is more important. Just don’t forget men are the victim of them as well.
