Is life great? Wonderful?

A long time ago, I read The Last Convertible by Anton Myrer. Here is the goodreads description:

I picked it because I love convertibles. But it is a great story. I have never heard of anyone ever reading the story, but to me, it is a classic.

The main character is steadfast and loyal and this leads to heartbreak. This is summed up in one line in the novel:

“Life is mostly bad, but still worth it.”

I printed that line out and put it on the cabinet of my sad, bachelor apartment. I think that sums things up.

The ratio of bad to good in life is at least 55%.

Saying life is great and beautiful sets you up for disappointment when its not. But if you can acknowledge that bad times, will be there, you can savor the good times.

Because that minority of bliss is worth it. It carries you through the bad times.

The beauty of nature and love is the best thing in the universe.
