This was a great opportunity to have my story performed. The performer jazzed it up and did a great job!

Get to know the writer:
What is your short story about?
A naïve young man does not realize that his girlfriend is trying to get him to break up with her. She has most likely cheated on him, but his passivity is also to blame for their problems.
Why should this story be read by people?
It is a mainstream flash fiction story.
How would you describe this story in two words?
Paralytic naivety

I love the Fisher King. With Jeff Bridges as a shock jock trying to find redemption and Robin Williams as a homeless person on a quest to find the Holy Grail, it is packed with humor and dramatic scenes.

This is a story I wrote 20 years ago. Every so often I pull…

The Jerk in the Mirror
People vote for who we see in the mirror. This is a comment a coworker said the day after Trump was elected. This appears to have a ton of wisdom in it. The truth of this may be too true. Trump is an angry man that is thin skinned and attacks without thought to decorum. … Continue reading The Jerk in the Mirror
Vote for Yourself
People vote for who we see in the mirror. This is a comment a coworker said the day after Trump was elected and I keep coming back to it with expanding connotations. Trump is an angry man that is thin skinned and attacks without thought to decorum. This person is reactionary with the absolute belief … Continue reading Vote for Yourself
NO FEE Submission call + editor interview —— Lost Sparrow Press, DEADLINE: Jan. 31, 2017
I submitted to this press. A small thing but I really liked that you can submit 4 poems and upload them separately. That way you do not need to paste them together in a document first.
Lost Sparrow Press is a new small independent press recently founded by publisher/editor, Logan R. This new indie press will focus on poetry, literary, and art publications and is “dedicated to the vast world of humanity and the many differences therein.”
I wondered how and why this press came to be, so I asked him a few questions to find out. See my interview with Logan and a link to their submission guidelines below.
HOPKINSON: Tell me a little bit about Lost Sparrow Press.
LOGAN: We are a small press just starting out, though we do have big dreams. The idea started with me and now I’ve got some great folks on board, but we are still working out the roles for everyone.
As a press we are focused on being a place for the poet and artist still lurking in the shadows to be heard. We are going to publish well-crafted, engaging…

It’s time to relax Part II
What is here is staying here. You could go back and outlaw marriage. Outlaw abortion. These things will not go away. And you will not be the worse for it. Or our nation. Religion is good, but it did not keep our country together. Our framework and our education did. We have a good system … Continue reading It’s time to relax Part II

Michele Obama
12/20/16 Last night I watched Oprah interview Michelle Obama. I already thought she was a great person. So I went to facebook to find something about the interview to like. That is when I came across many angry white women railing against her. One post called her a pig. I was so angry. I wanted … Continue reading Michele Obama
Its time to relax. And shut up.
I was moved by Michele Obama when Oprah interviewed her, so I searched Facebook to see what people were saying. Big mistake. There was many negatives posts including a woman that called her a pig and some other animals. I wanted to comment to that woman's post. Call her the c-word. She is clearly a … Continue reading Its time to relax. And shut up.
